Brandt, Henry (1921-1998)*

A teacher of French by original profession and an entirely self-taught film-maker, Brandt’s Nomades du soleil (1954), about the Wodaabe of Niger, which he made in collaboration with the Musée d’Ethnographie de Neuchâtel, was the first film in a long and distinguished career as a general documentary filmmaker.
